When I turn on my headlights (or parking lights) the rear brake lights appear to be on. The Bird is a 65 and all turn signals front and rear work properly. No change in brake lights when I step on the brakes. Are we talking brake light swith or a relay of some sort?

I would guess the brake light switch. I had the same problem on my 65. Good luck finding one. The brake light switch for the 65 is unique to the 65 Thunderbird. (or so I was told)
