how does the knob come off a 65 headlight switch so i can remove the switch???

Disconnect the battery, rremove the lower trim panel. If you reach up from the bottom and on the bottom of the switch is a button which you need to depress the you can pull the stem and knob out. Unscrew the collar from the outside and the switch will be loose except for the plug.
