Just brought home a 65. I believe the motor is not original for several reasons. Its Ford light blue in color with lt blue valve covers and blue air cleaner (not black w/ gold accents) Each valve cover has an oil breather/filler. Does appear to be a big block. Have tried and tried to locate numbers. have found only C9AE 9425 B on the front intake manifold and a firing order on the back of the manifold. Can find no letters/numbers on the block behing the alternator or near the bell housing. Valve covers say Power by Ford. If anyone out there can help I would appreciate it very much.
regarding your number... that indicates a 1969 ford
i would bet that someone put a 390 from a 69 ford in there. it makes perfect sense as it would have been a good used engine at the time it was changed. peopel tended to just go to the salvage yard or pick up a used car with a good engine and swap them out.
look at the heads down between the spark plugs for more numbers. the first two characters of the number are the tell tale sign
c indicatest the decade of 60's and the next number such as 9 indicates the year such as in this case it is 69
You are the man! Based on your search location I was able to locate C8AE H between the 2nd and 3rd plug on the pass. side. If I understand correctly it's a 68 390 from a Galaxy?
