HI GANG!
JUST WANTED TO KNOW IF ANYONE HAS HAD ANY EXPERIENCES WITH AFTERMARKET WHEELS. I HAVE A '65 THAT I PROBABLY WILL NEVER GET TO SHOW CONDITION THAT I'D LIKE TO DRESS UP A LITTLE. NEVER HAVE BEEN MUCH OF A FAN OF HUBCAPS. BY MY MEASUREMENTS, THE STOCK WHEEL HAS A 3 3/4" BACKSPACE AND I WAS WONDERING IF A 4" BACKSPACE WOULD CLEAR ALL THE SUSPENSION COMPONENTS. SPECIFICALLY, I WAS LEANING TOWARDS A 16X7 WHEEL WITH 225/60 OR 225/65 TIRE.
ANY SUGGESTIONS?
THANKS

I do not know of any wheels that will fit on the front of the 65 due to that large caliper used on them.

I do know that if you go to a 7 inch wide wheel you will have problems hitting the frame and/or the fender

THANKS JOHN. I GUESS I'M STUCK WITH WHEELS & HUBCAPS. I DO NEED TO REPLACE THE TIRES AND I'VE SEEN SEVERAL DIFFERENT RECOMMENDATIONS ON SIZE. 215/70R15,205/75R15 & 215/75R15?

A friend has a 65 with American Racing
Torque Thrusters on it, but it required spacers
to clear the calipers. Not cheap either.
I think they were 15 inch, but I'm sure 16s
would work to as long as you use a spacer.
Even then it looked like there was very little
clearance for the calipers. Bottom line, the
only sure way is to try them on. Good luck.
I mentioned in another spot at this site about
the American Racing web site being good for
investigating.
