You can use a Holley 4 square pattern like a model 1850 or a factory Autolite carb. The Motorcraft Autolite was probably original although many times they used Holleys as replacements when you went to the dealer for a new one. If you look for a Holley you'll want to find one in the 450 to 650 CFM size and make certain that it has the Ford transmission kickdown lever and an electric choke is also a good idea. They are for sale on Ebay all the time for $50.00 to $100.00 and are easy to kit if need be. Good luck.

I just changed the autolite 4300 in my '69 t-bird for a Holley. i think it was # 84057S. Bolted right on with no problems. It comes with the Ford transmission lever that 4-5-6-birdman metioned. I also bought the kickdown kit, which gives you the bracket to and spring for the kickdown. I had to buy a pack of balls to hook up the linkage, as I couldn't get the ball off my Autolite. The last thing I got was an inline fuel filter. This I mounted by the power steering pump.

Hey MIke - The 80457 is a good choice for power and economy, should work out real well for you. Most Holleys are pretty good right out of the box and shouldn't need much tweaking.

Wildbill,
So far I love this new carb. Car starts right up, idles a whole lot smoother. Also no more gas smell in the garage. i put the sensor on that takes the temp right off the intake manifold. I heard it's supposed to help starting when the engine is warm. So far, i have no problems with it. No more black smokeout the tail pipe when i stomp on the gas.
