Hi

I am not familiar with what that vinyl strip would be. please describe it more.

the only vinyl on the sides that I know of would be the cushions in the side moulding

This is a thin coat of vinyl all along the bottom of the car, from the door moulding down. described as a paint protect from factory. I believe it to be an option for 79. It looks to be a clear textured coating. Described in the brochure for that year as a vinyl application. I believe Ford offered this on most of it's cars as an option at that time.

Hi. I know this posting is almost four years old but I thought I would reply anyway. I work in a Ford assembly plant as a pipefitter. This coating is a polyvinyl product that is sprayed on wet. It then goes through an oven and gets baked on looking clear and textured. Not sure how you would be able to to this at home. Well I hope somebody reads this. Thanks!

Hi Chuck,
Wow....I was just browsing the topics and saw something about vinyl applications and thought I'd take a look.....I haven't logged on in four years and didn't even remember posting this at first until I noticed the handle sounded familiar! Well, it's very interesting to know how they applied this coating. I figured it was originally applied with an adhesive. Thanks for replying, you never know who will be reading!
Thanks.
