Where's my 67's brake relay?

Hi! I'm looking for the brake relay on my '67 tudor (brake lights not working). Apparently the later '67s don't have one? (I don't know if mine is early or late) My question then is what do the later 'birds use? I've checked the diagram & trouble shooting guide that John has posted for brake lights and sequential turn signals, but it shows a relay where I have none. I emailed John, but I think he's on vacation. I'll be checking the turn signal switch tonight, so I'm wondering where to go next if it turns out OK. Thanks from a new T-bird owner!

Cal , I have just done my pedal switch last summer. It was a bit of a mystery I could pull it out and bench test it would show as operating.
I have the tail light monitor system on my 69 and the brake lights were'nt working all of the time.
I went down to Lordco (Maple Ridge) and they had a new switch on the shelf.Put it in and now the lights work all of the time.Cheap fix less then $10.00.
Contact my off the list for parts and leads @ flybird@telus.net

Hi, not on vacation, just working my butt off making firewood and dismantling 2 old birds.

if you have the relay it is in the sequencer package and would be the center of three items there. I know some of these had only the motorized sequencer and the signal light relay on that rubber flap. I am sure they had the brake light relay someplace but need time to check the books

Thanks, guys. I spent another hour out there and still haven't found the relay. In my shop manual it shows the stop lamp relay "early production", and doesn't mention anything about the later models. Mine is from May 31, so when they changed I don't know, but it's not with the rubber backed units. I'm going to see about getting a new switch tomorrow; John, sorry you weren't on vacation, I would have been jealous! In your troubleshoot for brake lights it says the power should be on when the pedal is depressed; well I have power when it is UP and nothing when depressed, so that is backwards... I'll replace the switch and see if that helps. If I can get one for $10 it'll probably be the cheapest part I ever buy! Thanks again for your help; this'll be my favourite forum from now on! smile

Hi! So I called our local parts stores and the '67 brake light switch is discontinued. The Ford dealership found one in NS, but I went one step further, disconnected the wires at the switch and connected them to each other. No brake lights! I wonder if they need ground or something... back to the diagrams... frown
