I hope everyone is in the best of health.I have a 1966 Ford Mustang Automatic Floor Shifter and researched this and was told they will bolt up to Cruise-O-Matics. I saw a 59 or 60 T-Bird on, I think Ebay, that had a floor shifter, just like the one I have, already installed in it and I Emailed the person and he told me it came from the factory that way........what do I know......I would REALLY appreciate ANY feedback about this project. I have installed plenty of 3 speed or 4 speed floor shifters in my day....and I don't think this could be a whole lot more difficult.........Thank you so much for your time and hope to get some information from someone..............Sincerely

A common problem with those swaps is the shift detents in the shifter don't match the detents in the transmission. Even some of the aftermarket shifters which are "supposed" to be designed for a particular transmission don't shift properly. This will only cause a lot of frustration, possible damage, etc. and while not impossible to work out, why bother? Also, some "square bird" experts can correct me if I'm wrong but, I don't think any '58-'60 T-birds came with a consol mounted shifter for either automatic or manual transmissions.

Howdy kandieapple66,..........Thank you so much for the information.......So sorry for the delay in getting back to you.........this -Bird is keeping me WWWaaayyyy too busy ! ! ! ! ! and broke! ! ! ! I REALLY don't want to replace the shift collar..............it looks like way too much fun ! ! ! ! and I think a floor shift would look very nice. I am working toward a " barnfind " look.....really cannot afford rechrome and new parts.....I am getting alot of REALLY nice parts from T-Bird Ranch and couldn't be more satisfied with the quality.....just need a few more items........ I spoke with Mr. Draxler and he said he never heard of a " factory "installed floor shift in ANY squarebird.....also....I am thinking of using a shift cable...instead of linkage......I just want my bird to be sort of different...Once Again,.....THANK YO SO VERY MUCH FOR YOUR ADVICE......I wish you ALL the best.......Sincerely.....
