When I purchased my 66 town hardtop, the roof side moldings (Also known as Belt Mouldings)were off the car. They are in very poor, pitted shape. I will need to purchase new ones. QUESTION on mounting to car. The car body has 4 large holes approx 1/2'' in diameter. The moldings have 4 studs mounted to them.I am told a rubber type putty was used to hold the moldings to car.
Do the studs also get nuts on them? They seem to be threaded. Do you gain access thru interior by removal of sail panels. Any help appreciated. Greg

The studs probably get nuts on them. The rubber type putty is used to seal out water from leaking into the body.

I've taken them off a parts car, They did have nuts on them. Can't remember if they were the tin speed nuts, You should be able to tell by the thread. The dumb dumb or putty you can buy in any auto store.
