I just bought a 66 t-bird and have yet to purchase a restoration guide...

but it's killing me that I don't understand the big dot little dot on the auto transmission.....
what dot does what

I assume one is for the dual range trans shifting and one is for just a regular three speed shifting?
but
I dunno
Patrick...........

Patrick,

You are correct. The little dot is the '66 version of overdrive. Have fun.

thank you Vince!
I thought so but it's always worth asking

going to fish around ebay today for a restoration guide and get started in on her

she's been in a barn for 10 years and needs loads of clean up and restoration
but
appears to be a worthy car
Patrick

The big green dot is the normal place to drive. It shifts 1-2-3. The small black Dot starts in 2 and shifts to 3. Ford claimed sarting in second gave you more traction in slippery conditions when starting out. There is no overdrive
