So i have a 69 Coupe and have just noticed that the rear passenger side sits 1/2 lower than the drivers side. I am assuming that shock has gone bad has anyone replaced theirs and what would you recommend? I may do the front ones too i think i'd like her to be a little stiffer in the front for sure.

Thanks
Carter

PS. Is it possible to buy the rubber seats that the coils springs sit on as mine are eaten away and could be part of the problem !

I'd look for airshocks in the back. They will give you whatever body clearance you want simply by pumping them up and they're generally not a whole lot more expensive than conventional gas filled shocks. There are parts being reproduced for the 67-69 birds but I do not know if that particular part is. I'm not even sure what company is doing the reproducing so I can't help you much there. However getting some new air shocks should help you out on your 1st problem Cool

The shocks DO NOT support any weight. The springs are what support the weight of the car.
Replacing the shocks won't solve your problem. It is probably the rubber seats or the springs themselves that are the problem. To prove it disconnect the shocks and see if there is any difference. You won't see any. I installed Monroe shocks and a heavy duty sway bar on my '66 and it rides and handles great. The heavy duty sway bar made a big difference. Check with Pat Wilsons T-Bird parts in Fredon, N.J. He may be able to help.

Hey Jim,
Thanks for the advice i had to replace the shocks anyway and hey you were right no change guess the springs are weak so they will be next on the list.

Take care
Carter
Ps. Ended up getting the gas shocks wasn't sure if the air ones could be pumped to different pressures from side to side anyway thanks guys

Don't forget the rubber seats when you replace the springs or you may have the same problem with the new springs. You may want to try the seats first and see if that solves the problem.
