I have got a 1961 T-bird and would like to remove the wiper arms from my car. What needs to be done to remove them safely?

The easy way is to use a special tool, used on all wiper arms of the time. But using MANY towels and rags to prevent scratches to any nearby paint, put a stubby screwdriver under the round end of the arm at the pivot stub (the thing that sticks out of the cars cowl). place rags under the arm area, and slightly lift up on the long part of the arm, about one inch, 20mm?,and hold it steady then with your other hand put the stubby screwdriver under the lip and pull/push upward AND BING EVERYTHING IN YOUR HAND SLIDES VERY QUICKLY OFF! to reinstall just line up arm and push it back on. Using no tool. Note the spring pressure when you lift up on the arm, where the wiper blades are, easy to move on the long end and very hard to move on the 'mount' end. Good Luck, George

I have yet to find any design flaw on my 61, Thanks Henry
