I'm currently working on a 65 Bird and have already bought a new carb for it - Street Demon 750 with electric choke. I was wondering whether I would need to use a spacer plate under it since it seems the original manifold/carb combination had a slanted spacer under it. Should I fabricate a similar one or go without? The new manifold is an Edelbrock 390 Performer if that helps.

Also I am interested in changing over to a C-6 transmission from the original FMX. I can get another crossmembre for the transmission but what else would I need? I need new motor mounts anyway so should I get ones for a 66/C6 or a regular 65/FMX? Also will the shifter linkage have to come from a 66? The trans cooler lines I'll have fabricated to mate up to the original radiator lines so that shouldn't be an issue. Any thought or advice before I start buying up parts to do the swap?

Thanks,
Alan
