I have an old 67 Thunderbird with the big 429 engine. I am trying to restore it, or at least get it in saleable condition. There are several electical problems with it, the most serious being that the panel that holds the power window switches gets very hot, which would suggest some sort of short. The driver's side window is intermittent. None of the other windows works. I have inspected the panel on the inside and it looks ok but obviously something is wrong.

The power driver seat is also intermittent. The fuel guage doesn't work. I pulled the sender out of the tank and it looks shot. I heard from a friend who also owns the identical car that this model was known for electrical problems... can anyone make any comments or suggestions??

I've had similar problems with a '65. The solution was to take the switches apart and clean them. Especially the window switches. Cleaning the contacts at the window motors also helps. Have you checked the ground? Others have had that problem too. Good Luck!
