The lower windsjield mldg has screw clips that are under the cowl panel so youre right you will bend them. Remove the wiper arms, then the chrome trim at the base of them. Unscrew the screws at the edge of the cowl panel(under the hood) remove the screws on the cowl that are hidden with the doors closed and then raise the hood and lift from the frt edge and slide forward. You will see the clips on the mldg as soon as the panel is out.

Great! That all makes sense. How do I remove the windshield wiper arm then? I can see a clip at the base that I pried up but I could not get the arm to budge. Thanks much.

Pry the clip like you saw and also pry up on the wiper at the back edge. I use a flat screw driver blade but be careful. The pivot is shaped like a gumdrop so as it raises it will get loose
