I have been told to remove them with a beer can opener. I have tried this and it leaves 2 vertical lines in the stainless. Anyone have a pair of these laying around. I destroyed mine 10 years ago before painting my 1958 thunderbird.

Try a hardware store or Sears for two of the thinnest putty knives you can get. From the bottom, wedge the tip of one putty knife under the moulding (start at the end of the moulding, not the middle)and gently pry up just enough to get the second one under the moulding. With a hammer, gently tap the side of the second putty knife and he moulding should just roll off.
