I think if you go to the Ford carburetor forum and see Bill Whites comments you will get some very good info.on switching manifolds.
I hope you are still running a Ford 4100 carb.

Let me re phrase that last message.
Bill says that if you have the edelbrock manifold you have to run an edelbrock carb.
Reason --they sell the manifold pretty cheap so you have to buy a three or four hundred edelbrock carb , pretty foxy.
I have been running the stock set up on my 66 Bird since new with no problems. I know the stock manifold is heavy but it works well with the stock 4100 carb.

VICTORY IS MINE!

Well, at least for now. My carb spacer trick worked and she fired right up after I installed it yesterday. A few adjustments to the timing and rocker arms should make everything alright.

Thanks again for the vacuum advice, I would have never thought to look under the carb spacer!

Why would you need to run an edlebrock carb? I would think you would have to get one with the same flow as the 4100.

I'm not exactly sure why he would say that you would need an edelbrock carb to go along with it, maybe so the manifold and carb match up perfectly or something. But if you ran that combo, you would most likely have to bypass the carb spacer somehow, or it doesn't make any sense.

Bill seems fairly anti-edelbrock for some reason. However, he knows everything about the 4100 carbs.
