Every weekend without fail, when I want to take the Bird for a ride one of the power windows says "no way!" and won't budge. I have taken the door panels apart and sprayed lubrication on the mechanisms and tracks and then they work fine... for a few weeks. Do I need to use lithium grease or are the motors getting old?

I used white Lithium for the windows in my '69. Lubed the runners, regulators and the drive gear. I also try to keep my rubber seals lubed with a light coat of silicone.

Not for the faint of heart but have you ever taken one of these motors apart? They sit in a horrible place which if your dew wipes are bad will allow water, rain, car wash, etc to drain right on them. I used to have the same problem and after buying a couple rebuilt motors decided, heck its already broke cant hurt to see whats inside. There are 2 contacts in the base that run around the shaft that make contact with the windings on the center shaft. I cleaned up the contacts and the shaft re-assembled and have had zero problems since. I also replaced the dew wipes. I have since even doen this to my sons 83 Bird which had the same issue. Seems with a lack of use and a little moisture they are dead, but they arent. As of now I have fixed about 3 or 4 on our cars and they have been fine for the past few years.
