After putting motor back in my 63 and connecting it to trans,I put a socket on the crank to get TDC. There is now a noise like starter to flywheel contact. Any ideas?

I would google the ford transmission forum and ask that ? Your converter may have slipped and not be on the splines correct.

Thanks-I'll do a search. The noise went away after removing the starter and turning the motor over by hand.
Wondering about the ring on the center of the flywheel-I thought I took the flywheel bolts out,then the separate center ring, then the flywheel? It's been a while since I took it apart-should have taken pictures!!
