I have a 1996 T-Bird and the inside gauges are not working or lights except map and Courtesy.

Where is best place to start trouble shotting

I would start at the fuse block. Check for a blown fuse or loose connection.
The best thing to do is get yourself a set of service manuals for the car. They are a great help in trouble shooting and reparing.

I have had to replace my light switch itself. Mine started blinking on and off. Then just went out. The second time I replaced it I discovered an early model mustang will fit and work. Do not hold me to the intelegents of this option since I am uncertain of the load capabilities between the two swiches - only the cost difference! You would have to modify the switch "post" since the mustang one fit directly on the dash and the bird holds it out about 1 1/2 inches (or so). good luck!
