Birdites,
I have just bought a 66 TL and the ignition switch is stuck. By stuck, I mean it will turn a bit and stop. I cannot go into ACC so, how do I remove the switch?? HELP!!!!!! Thanks Nikki Nikki 1966 Town Landau |

First, disconnect the negative battery cable at the battery post. Turn the key (as close as you can) to the ACC position and insert a straightened paper clip or similar wire in the small hole to the right and below the key slot. You may have to wiggle the key up and down as you apply turning pressure. Try both edges of the key too, BTW. A graphite base lubricant made for lock cylinders may help too. Turn the key counter clockwise and remove the lock cylinder from the switch. Remove the lower intstrument panel under the ignition switch area. Push on the rear of the switch assembly and rotate it approx. 1/8th of a turn to free it from the bezel. Lower the switch, remove the retaining nuts from the back of the switch and separate the switch from the wiring connector. Good luck and let us know your progress.

You can leave the tumbler in the switch and remove the entire assembly as per the second half of Kandiapples post. Then just buy repo tumbler and switch from any supplier
