Hi The lens of one of my Bird's (2D HT -64) courtesy pillar lights in the rear quarter trim panel is broken. I have a new lens. How to replace this? How to "open" the light. Is it just to pull the bezel out? The bezel is round without visible screws. Just the outer bezel and headliner tightly under it. Because the lens is broken and now missing I can see a bit of the inside. No visible screws there either. OK, if we think that the lens would be there and I would have to change the bulb. There has to be a way to open the lamp bezel to change the bulb without braking the lens. Only way I can think of is twisting the bezel to open it. Or just pure violence to pull the lamp assy out. When I tried to twist on the bezel, it moved just a bit. It's very hard to get a good grip to twist. And which way to twist open and which to close??? The shop manual or the electrical assembly manual does not help. Shop manual tells to remove the bezel to change the bulb!!!? What? Sure???? The light assy mounts to a metal brace behind the headliner. It has tabs all the way around it that hold it in place. Carefully pry it out. Once you have it out you can unplug it from the harness(make sure you dont lose the plug in the roof) The lens is put in place and then the edge is peened over to hold it. That part will make more sense when you are looking at it. If you still are having trouble drop me an email(dans65bird@alltel.net) and I can send you a picture of one already out so you can see what it looks like and what you need to do. Dan | |||
