Is there a trick to turning the crank so the counter weight clears the oil pan for oil pan removal on a 390 FE?

I take the nuts off the front motor mounts, Jack up the engine as far as it will safely go without breaking anything. Usaully about 2". Then turn the crank and you'll see the proper positions.
