Hi, just bought a 66 and the ebrake is locked. Unfortunately the section about the brakes is missing in the manual. Can anybody tell me how the ebrake can be opened? Switch, lever or whatever?
Thanks

Should come off with vacuum when car is started and put in gear. Vacuum line from engine to switch on steering column then to ebrake. Manual lever under dash above ebrake. Also diagram on this forum.

Hi - reply to Bob - you mentioned a diagram on this forum that shows where the manual lever for ebrake release is? Can you tell me where on the forum I can find the diagram?
Many thanks!

The diagram is for the vacuum lines only, Schroll the menu on left side of page to diagrams. If you look above the parking brake pedal close to the bottom of the dash you will see the lever. Put a little pressure on the pedal with one hand and pull the lever with the other.

With the engine running make sure you have vacuum at hose the from the engine to the neutral safety switch. If you do then make sure that all the vacuum lines good and are connected where they should be. (One on the vacuum release above the e-brake pedal and two on the neutral safety switch.) If they are all connected correctly try moving the shift lever through all the positions and see if that releases it. If it does you need to adjust the neutral safety switch. If it still doesn't release, disconnect the 2 vacuum hoses at the neutral safety switch and connect them together. If the e-brake releases you have a problem with the neutral safety switch. If not the problem is with vacuum release mechanism.
