I have a chance to purchase a 1988 T Bird T/Coupe with all options, A/T. Has 80K original miles. On a 1 to 10 scale it's between a 7 & 8, driver's seat ripped, everything works. One owner car. Being sold due to death in family. They are going to be asking between $3,000 - $3,500 for it, I have first option to buy it and wanted to know if anyone can give me a little information on these cars and if this is a fair price. At one time I owned an 88 TB with all options V/8, what differences can I expect. What kind of fuel mileage can I expect and are their any problems these cars had a history of. I drove my other TD for 100,000 and had absolutely no problems with it, can I expect the same out of this 4 cylender?

I also have am 88turbo coupe with well over 160000 miles. She still runs but lately has started smoking like crazy. I have had lots of work done since this past July but still having a smoking problem. I suppose the next trip is to Crown Ford. I can honestly say in the last 15 years I have owned the car she has been a true pleasure. I think that the price you were quoted is a little high. But that depends on how badly you want the car. If you can give any advice on my "smoking t-bird" it would be greatly appreciated. I too am in the Fayetteville area. All help would be sincerely appreciated.
