First thing, buy the factory shop manual. Check all safety related systems/items. Brakes are likely in need of rebuilding. Most of the rubber parts should be replaced. Radial tires will perform much better than the OE bias ply ones. Cooling hoses should be replaced when you drain and flush the cooling system. Inspect the exhaust system carefully- carbon-monoxide poisoning is not a option. A good battery will be needed as well. After all of that, THEN you can begin to assess the actual mechanical and cosmetic needs of your 'Bird. Good luck and have fun!

Sure you can. If it were me, I might have the bolts to the + battery cable loose. This is just in case in your operation you find a short or something and need to get cut power quickly. Have fun.

I thought maybe you might have oil something or grease something to make it work before turning it on.... I will have a battery cut off switch installed, just to be sure....
