I changed my oil about 1000 miles ago and today when I checked it, it was up where it should be but seemed a little dark. I use Penzoil 10W30 plus 1 can of JB Oil Treatment to attempt to combat age and oil use. It is an 88 Sport (302 V8) w/90,000 miles. Any ideas as to why the oil seems dark? I know it gets darker but after only 1000 miles?

Also, now that the warm spell is over + sub freezing temps are with us again, my blinking Check Engine Light has returned during accelerations (even mild ones). Any thoughts on that?

I got 23 MPG last time I checked it, but that was in October. I'll check it again and see if there has been a change. Though cold weather reduces MPG as well, doesn't it?
