63 T-Bird Fuel Pump Issue

I just installed a new fuel pump from a reputable T-Bird supplier. The new pump is not delivering fuel to the carb. The lines are not restricted. I am running a short fuel hose from a gas can just to test. I removed the fuel pump from the vehicle and when working the pump by hand I am getting suction (vacuum) from the input side but I get nothing from the output side. It seems to me that I should be getting some pressure from the output. Is it possible that the new fuel pump is bad?

Defective parts come in shiney new boxes too. This is becoming an increasingly common occurance. Always examine and test replacement parts before installing regardless of the source. It's a sad state of affairs but your experience is not unusual at all.

Howdy,......Don't mean to be nosy,.....BUT.........My friend called me with the same problem ! ! ! ! !Check to see if there is some kind of sensor in the trunk ( Gravity inertia switch ) is what the parts guy called it...........Don't remember the year.......but apparently someone had bumped into his TB in the parking lot and I did exactly what you are doing until I noticed a wire in the trunk going from the driver side up under the back window across to the passenger side..............until it went to a small plastic switch bolted to the trunk hinge ! ! ! ! I unbolted it an found it had a reset button........I pressed it and told my friend to try and start the car .....it started right up..........it cuts off the power to the fuel pump in case of a rear end collision
