I'll explain as much as possible in as little as I can. Was driving, Temp went up, Lots of smoke. Antifreeze coming out of top of carb, almost all plugs once removed had anti come out. Tried to remove Dist. no go - had to pry it out - no bottom gear - must be fused to cam. Unable to hand crank motor. Unknown at this time if block is cracked. Just got car 5 months ago. My question is - 390 orig - found tags on block (will keep block either way because orig.unless crack then pointless). Rebuild motor or replace? Main prob - In military - San Diego - No place to store non-running car, currently my only car, Currenlty have between 3-4K to spend, If I replace my motor what engine options do I have? I do not want to change anything beyond the motor. Any help is gratefully appreciated.

I do have the knowledge to replace the motor but not the know how to rebuild it, My friend will be walking/talking/doing/helping me throught the rebuild, also time is more then important then practice/cost as I said I will keep the original motor - rebuild in the future - More then 3-4 weeks to fix is not an option - Yes they are my friends but i WILL NOT over burden them with a 18ft long car in there driveway. I will reiterate That I have found a 390/400 hp crate/turnkey replacement on ebay - yes ebay, I know - I have few other options. As my stand point - I am only 26yrs old - in 2 weeks - and am getting shit from my parents - 52yrs old - about spending money on this car, I've already put 4K total into it and am willing put another 3-4K. Interior is about 99% done and exterior is good enoug for me - so for eight K total you have all my options - Like I said ?ions please ask

You should be able to get a rebuilt easy from Jasper or Promar (1 888 262 1153} with a good warranty for about $1,700.00. You don't have to keep the original since there is no matching # on it just change the tag on the top of the manifold. Just be sure to put back a 390. Unless you had that car since new theres no way to tell if that motor was original anyway.
