attached to the voltage regulator is a small can that looks like an ignition condenser. What is it and where can I get a replacement. I broke the wire off of it trying to clean it up.

Thats just a radio supresion choke. When cars had cooper ignition wires it kept the static out of the radio. You don't need it

That is indeed a condenser. It is intended to suppress RF "noise" from the alternator or generator in older 'birds. They are pretty common and inexpensive. I'd replace it.

Did you try Pat Wilson 973-579-7205 Also there is one on ebay right now under 1965 thunderbird parts
