How do I keep those darn headlight covers closed? After the car is shut off, within 10 mins those headlights are staring back at me. I understand that I may have a leak in the line, but I was told that the motors may need to be rebuilt? Could that be one reason? In the manual, it states that if the car sits for long periods, it is common for the covers to rise on their own. Any ideas on checking for leaks in the lines? Should I be using the bypass valve for winter storage?
Thanks.

Try clamping off one vacuum line at a time while the headlight covers are closed until they dont open by themselves. A small vise grip will work. That will isolate where the leak is.
Sometimes the bypass valve develops a leak. Remove it and connect the hoses as if the valve wasn't there and see it that helps.

Sometimes squirting some motor oil in all the places where there is a connection at the vaccum lines will slow the leak down. Try one place at a time until you isolate the problem.
You can also try some oil on the bypass switch to see if that is the problem.
I used to have that problem on a Mark V and squriting oil on the bypass used to help for a while.
