Hi All, I just got some mighty fine seat covers for my 65 from John. Anybody ever do the job? Just wondering if I should pay a proffesional or do it myself. Doesn't look too hard or tricky. Bob Anderson 65 HT Poynette, WI

I took one off to get it repaired on a 66. Must have been a milliom hog rings in there from the factory. The tricky part is getting the recess or center parts to pull down through the foam and get the new hog ring attached. Like anything else if I did it a second time I would do it different. John probably has some good pointers. There are a few wire rods in there to provide curvature and its hard to squeeze the hog ring around them from the bottom side. My suggestion is to pay real close attention when you take the old ones off. Good Luck and Merry Christmas

I have done several sets now, all different years. you are right about trying to get the wire inserts down correctly into the foam so that you get a nice recess to the seats when done. another thing to pay attention to is that you work the cover on evenly if you have access to a steamer, even if you have to rent one, this will help stretch the covers nicely and when all installed it will help to relax the covers so that the wrinkles come out. do not be afraid to take them back off and put them on a few times if you are not satisfied at first (or second etc.) now I take them to a local upholsterer as I just do not have the time to mess with them. However I do feel that I can do a better job when I take my time. Just that it is hard to get paid for the time when you tend to be a perfectionist. key thing is patience

I bought a set of repros from one of the popular venodrs, and figured rather than ruin $400 worth of covers I took them to my local guy. I'm glad I did, he said they never locked their stitches and there were a couple other flaws in the covers he fixed. Didn't charge me for it, but I'm glad I left it to someone who knew what they were doing b/c the seats would probably look ike they did before the new covers if I didn't.
