Sequential turn signal assembly

I have been experiencing problems with my emergency turn signals not operating. I checked the fuses and the flasher and they are okay. I checked the switch and cleaned it and checked it for continuity and its okay.
Now I find that the flasher motor in the trunk keeps on going after I cancel the turn signal switch and it goes out when I hit my foot on the brake pedal to the stoplight switch. If I tap the flasher motor or wiggle it I can stop the motor but it wont cancel with the turn signal switch and only when I hit the brake pedal. I cleaned the contacts in the relay and the flasher motor with contact cleaner but it wont stop going. It turns my signal lights off but the motor itself keeps going. Should I buy a new electronic assembly? Has anyone else had any of these problems? What all do I have to replace if I buy the new electronic sequential assembly for my 65 Tbird? Thanks

Derek, good luck on the emergency flasher. However, the electronic sequential assembly could not have been easier. You cut a few wires, pull a board, and replace it with the electronic board, and then hook it up. That simple, and worth it. Works great. Eric

THANK YOU ERIC FOR YOUR REPLY ABOUT REPLACING THE SEQUENTIAL ASSEMBLY WITH THE ELECTRONIC ONE.
THE 65 TBIRD ORGINAL ASSEMBLY HAS THREE COMPONENTS MOUNTED ON A RUBBER PAD IN THE TRUNK.
THEY ARE THE FLASHER MOTOR, THE STOPLIGHT RELAY, AND THE TURN SIGNAL RELAY. THERE IS NO CIRCUIT BOARD. I CAN BUY A NEW COMPLETE ELECTRONIC ASSEMBLY TO REPLACE ALL THREE FOR $179.00 IN U.S. FUNDS WHICH IS OVER $200.00 IN CANADIAN FUNDS. SO IT WILL COST ME PROBABLY IN THE NEIGHBOURHOOD OF $300.00 CANADIAN DOLLARS BY THE TIME I HAVE IT SHIPPED HERE. MY EMERGENCY FLASHERS DO NOT FLASH AND THE MECHANICAL FLASHER MOTOR KEEPS ON RUNNING EVEN WITH THE TURN SIGNAL SWITCH AT OFF POSTION. I CAN STOP THE MOTOR BY HITTING MY BRAKE PEDAL OR BY WIGGLING THE ASSEMBLY IN THE TRUNK. I AM WONDERING IF ONE OF THE CONTACTS IN THE FLASHER MOTOR ASSY IS STICKING? I WAS HOPING SOMEONE ELSE HAD EXPERIENCED THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM.

I took the sequential flasher motor assy, the stoplamp relay, and the turn signal relay which are mounted on a rubber pad in the trunk all apart and cleaned the contacts on the relay and flasher motor assy. I took apart the stoplamp relay and found that the contact points were very badly pitted. I found another almost exact relay and rewired the coil inside of it. After replacing all three components my sequentials at least worked for all my turn signal bulbs except two on the rear. I also took apart my emergency flasher switch and installed two new very small springs inside. Now everything works except for two turn signal bulbs on the rear that dont flash. I am not going to worry about those for the time being. If I have any more problems I will change to a new electronic assembly. In the meantime I have all the original components working fine.
