Every manual or catalog I find indicates the same p/n as another part for this seal that resides inside the trunk before exiting to the tank. Either it is listed as the same p/n as the Neck Seal 9076 or the Tank O-Ring 9072. BUT, this seal inside the trunk just as the tube exits to the tank is different. Can anyone advise what the right p/n or where I can get the fill tube gasket inside the trunk? Thanks...

Rob,
Are you referring to the o-ring that seals the filler tube to the tank?

Unfortunately, not. That o-ring is #9072 and is some catalogs is listed twice, as it the neck rubber seal at the outter fender well. This is a seal on the tube as it passes through the truck from the inside to the outside just before it enters the o-ring to the gas tank. It is an oblong shaped piece held in by four screws. If you ever removed the tank & tube, you had to go through this rubber seal that keeps air & elements from the outside from getting around the fill tube and into the trunk.

For example if you go to this site <http://www.tbirdhq.com/bbparts/bbfuel/fuelill3.gif> and scroll to the bottom it shows the tank & fill tube assemble. Notice the p/n 9076 is listed twice, but the one labeld in the middle is the seal I need that is NOT the same as the one in the fender well as shown. Does this help?

Can anyone acknowledge a resolve, or confirm the difficulty in acquiring this seal? Any feedback on this to let me know where I stand would be greatly appreciated.

If you have no luck finding one I have 3 parts cars, 2 being Special Landaus, and I imagine if you sent me a pic of which one you want I can remove one for you.

I think he's talking about the flat gasket that goes around the flange on the filler tube just inside the filler door.

Pat Wilson has it in his catalog as "Filler Neck to Body Seal".

To Dan65: Great! Not that it matters but this is for my Special. Please send you email address to me <slemclan@hotmail.com> and I'll get a pic soon to send.

To TbirdJim: The "Filler Neck to Body Seal" that's behind the fill door I have three as many catalogs refer them as the same. The gasket I'm speaking of is not "flat" but is contoured to the shape of the inner trunk wall just as it leaves the trunk to enter the tank.

See website I've posted with some pics... the seal/gasket in question is sitting next to the fill tube trunk hole. You may have to copy/paste this into your url address field in your web browser. Any help would be appreciated:
