'88 Turbo Coupe, overheating

:bewildered :I'm having overheating problems. I've done the head, new hoses, tstat, radiator, water pump. Timing is right, all tune up parts new, injectors cleaned. Car runs great, very good power. Temp guage rises to t-stat opening. It pauses there for a few minutes then continues to climb to right at high red line. I've verified that the temps are showing correctly with an infrared thermometer at all important points.

Any help out there?

The factory gauges are not know for being accurate due to the IVR on the back of the instrument cluster. I recent had a solid state IVR built & installed on my 88 turbocoupe & was surprised to see them work much better. My fuel gauge now reads full when I fill her up. Check out this webite for info on the Solid Sate IVR.

Thanks for your reply. I tried getting on at turbotbird, with no success. I registered twice, and kept getting kicked back. Anyway, thank you for taking the time.
