I'm building a 67 t-bird for drag racing (no street). It has a 390 now that I was thinking about using but I deciced to go with a 460, I know that this block was used in the 68-69 bird so I'm asuming it will be relatively painless, does anyone know if I can just use 68-69 engine mounts? I know I will have to use a different transmission because the bell housings are different. any other info would be greatly appreciated.

Why do you want to use such a heavy car for drag racing? I do admit that it will be original though. I'm pretty sure that you can use the 68-69 mounts.

Heavy Shmevy - who cares - here's my take on it Bartman, it has been proven for years you can take a lite car and go fast - now the real challenge is to take a 2 1/2 ton behemoth and fly like the wind!!! I am warming over my 75 460 in my Marquis this summer and am going to try to get the beast into the 13's - now that's a challenge. If you want to find the secrets that are hiding inside that Ford 385 Series big block come see me and some of my friends here:http://www.network54.com/Forum/85220
Can't tell you much about the motor mounts, they should work though,I am going to go 429/460 in at least 2 of my 4,5, and 6 birds. The 385 series is superior to the old FE, no comparison, you can make 500 hp at the flywheel in a 385 series for less than $2500.00. Good Luck!!
