Is there a way to get the turn signal switch out of a 66 without cutting the plug off the end?

yes, the wires terminals come out of the plug. the terminal ends have a little tang that clips in when they are shoved into the plug hole. to release them you need a special little tool tht will slide over the terminal end in the plug and press the tang in so that the terminal and wire will slide out backwards again.

Make sure you mark and lable the wires before you remove them from the plug.
