Howdy, Everyone,.........I hope your holidays were merry......I am wrestling with a 59 T-Bird ( and so far it is winning) and I am told that you can disassemble the wiper motor and sort of recondition it by cleaning the wiper assembly inside. I know how to get it out and take it apart,....but what do you use as a lubricant on the inside for the wiper assembly ?? ? ALSO......I am trying to get the brake lights working and found a ( what looks like a horn relay,BUT with insulated bushings for the mounting screws ) on the driver side fender in the trunk that was spliced into the system ? ? ? HUH! ! ! ! Has anyone ever seen this situation ? ?......I would like to thank everyone who has helped me with this bowl of spaghetti.....I have been around cars most my life and REALLY appreciate any help I get.................Sincerely

What I remember is a graphite based grease or maybe just graphite dust, check the 'wiper' edge of the flapper, take your time and study how vacuum is used to move the flapper in each direction. Side note: by adding a vacuum tank to the circuit the wipers will not slow under engine acceleration. Good Luck, George
I have yet to find any design flaw on my 61, Thanks Henry |
