My 65 convertible w/390 transmission leaks when I stop after it gets hot. The fluid is coming down the rear inside of the converter housing. It seams like it is blowing itself out and after initial leak it seems to stop except for the dripping. If I just drive a couple miles it is OK. I am not sure where the vent is but it almost seems to be coming out a vent. I don't think it is overfilled, but maybe it is airating and coming out the vent or the vent is clogged and blowing out thru a seal. Has anyone had experience with this that can help or tell me where the vent is so I can check it? Thanks Bob

Tranny cooler clogged?

Check the tranny fluid level immediately after the car reaches operating temp. If the fluid level is fine, you may have a clogged cooler that is letting the fluid get hot and expand. Pull the cooler lines and try to blow LOW pressure air through the cooler.

Good luck

Thanks Vince, The fluid level is OK and I just had the radiator recored and I checked the trans fluid flow at that time and it was good. I did find the vent line-sure isn't easy to get to- and snaked and blew it out. Fluid came up the fill pipe so I know it is clear now. I'll give her a try this week. Thanks for your input.
