buy 84 t-bird and i dont have overdrive, is this a terminal problem or adjustment can be made

i too have the same problem on an 88 bird, waiting on reply to question will any aod trans fit my car?

To 84greybird: are you sure it has an AOD in it? I have an 84 that has just a 3 speed in it as well as had an 86 that just had a 3 speed in it.I believe it was a C4. I may be wrong about which type it was but it only had 3 gears. Alot of times on the overdrive cars they have the D circled on the PRND21 display. If its not then chances are its not an overdrive. If thats the case then all you can do to fix it really is get an AOD from a car with it in it.


To 1 Bd Brd: Any AOD tranny from a fox body car should fit.On an 88 I believe any AOD from the 80's to present will fit exactly the same.Mustangs, LTD's, cougars, tbirds, zephyr's, the list goes on and on.
