Finally got the bird running after many years. Am having problems with the gauges,Temp, oil pressure and fuel. Have replaced the constant voltage requlator twice but still don't get gauges to read correctly. Sometimes as the temp rises so does the oil pressure and the fuel tank starts indicating more fuel than what's in tank. If this was only possible I could become a rich man. Any how, anybody out there have any suggestions where to go from here, what am I overlooking.
Thanks |

Sounds like a grounding problem.
The CVR is OK because the guages are recveiving 5v to move the guages. The CVR either works or it doesn't work. There is no in-between You have a short in the circuit. Remove the single wire from the TEMP sending unit, the single wire on the OIL sending unit, and the harness at the fuel sending unit at the gas tank. All three of these units are on the same circuit. By the process of elimination re-attach the OIL sending unit. Turn Ignition to "ACC" position . If the OIl guage pegs to right, replace oil sending unit. If OIL guage is normal, the short is in the TEMP or Fuel sending unit. Attach TEMP sending unit wire. Turn ignition to ACC position. If guage pegs to right replace TEMP sending unit. If TEMP is normal, replace the Fuel sending unit inside the gas tank. Platinum 1966 Town Hardtop |
