Hello all, thank you for your previous assistance , but l have a question that has troubled me for some time, when l rev the engine, l am getting a vibration thru the dashboard and thru the floor, l have checked and replace the trans mount , still does it, would a broken engine mount cause this problem, l have looked but they both seem ok, when driving this vibration is only minimal, only seems to be at its worst when parked. My other thought would be that maybe the torque convertor may be out of balance, is that a possability ??? l'm kind of lost with it at the moment. Thanks for any thoughts David Australia.

It could be either of them. Have you taken the engine out or raised it to check if the motor mount is broken? Idk how to check a bad torque converter, but I think it would be vibrating all the time.

Not much information David. What engine do you have? The TC is balanced and occasionally the balancing weights can fall off and cause some vibration though usually minor. A failed motor mount is sometimes difficult to catch because at rest, cracks or separation is hard to see. If they are the original units, they are most likely "used up". Is the vibration regular or intermittent? Does it increase with revs or ?

Does your car have A/C? If so the support bracket in the front will cause a vibration in the dash and floor when car is revved. This happens if the bolt that mounts to the front of the water pump is either too long, too tight, etc. Platinum 1966 Town Hardtop

OK thanks that gives me two locations in which to concentrate my initial checks, l did read in one of the other postings on how to raise the engine ( to remove the sump ) so this weekend l'll have a look there, yes l do have the air co attatched and l'll also look at the bolts there. The engine is the standard 390 FE Thank you all for your postings, l'll get back to you with a ( hopefully ) good out come. A few Aussies are coming over next week for the 100 years of the Ford Model T in Richmond Indiana, so if like me you have another baby in your garage and are attending , l hope to see you there. PS - the vibration begins when the engine is revved to say half pedal and seems to cease when high revs occur, the vibration is a lot less noticable when the car is actually moving at the same revs or there abouts. Is any of this helpful ? David Australia.

I just went through the same thing,David. Seemed that the engine was out of balance. Checked the motor mounts, and the rubber and steel had separated, lowering the motor down just enough that the bellhousing on the tranny hit the lower trans mount, causing a vibration which you could feel through the floor of the car. Two new mounts later, vibration gone!! Good luck!!

There are a lot of things that can throw the engine out of balance. I had the same problem and turns out, it wasa broken fan blade. The smallest thing believe it or not can cause your vibration. I found my problem by watching the engine while someone revved it for me. Good luck.
