Hi...I have a 66 TL with 390/C6. The car usually starts fine. However, occasionally, I turn the key, and...nothing; no solenoid clicks...almost like the neutral safety switch is engaged. If I keep the key turned for about 5 seconds, suddenly the car starts normally. Anyone have any thoughts? thanks Ken

Mmm interesting. I have a 64 which does the same thing. After a week of not running,it takes a while to crank start. After a few goes....nothing. Wait 30 secs, try again... starts fine....????

Sure sounds like a starter solenoid. If the neutral switch was out of spec, leaving the key on wouldn't change anything. But keeping power on a solenoid could. Sure you checked all the connections and did this include the ground at block? That got me one time.

I just checked the connections for tightness; I didn't actually take them apart and clean them. It'll be a week before I can get to it, but that's where I'll start; then I'll replace the solenoid. I'll let everyone know how it goes. Thanks :-)
