i'm working on a 64 tbird. the problem is when i turn the key to either accessory or on the engine cranks. When i turn the key to start nothing happens. i have tried several ignition switches but it does the same thing. i have also tried 2 different selonoids. i have the brown wire attached to the ignition side and the red and white wire on the starter side. what could be the problem? Tim

Go to the home page of this site and scroll down the left side of the page. You will find a link to wiring diagrams. There is a diagram for the charging system for '65-'66. Print that out an trace every wire to see if everything is connected properly or if maybe there is a short somewhere causing the starter to crank when it shouldn't. I would think the wiring for a '64 would be very similar, or you could just purchase the wiring diagrams for your year and use them.
