Thanks for having a look, I am having a hard time removing the rear deck cover on my 65 hardtop. To be clear, I am reffering to the interior trim pieces below the rear window, above the rear seats. This piece houses the rear speaker as well. I have removed the 6 to 8 screws from the center piece, as well as the 3 screws securing each side. but the dech does not want to seem to pull out. It feels as if there being held in by somthing, but I cannot figure it out. Thanks 1965 Ford Thunderbird Hardtop

There are numerous screws AND metal clips which hold the back edge to the body. I would encourage you to purchase the "Body & Interior Assembly Manual" for your 'bird. It is a real time saver and worth every penny, IMO.

Thanks, I have that book too! After looking threw it I saw the clips you were refering to. Any tips on how to acess them or pry off? I cant slide my hand under the package tray, and dont see an easy acess from the trunk...? Any help is appreciated ! 1965 Ford Thunderbird Hardtop

I have only had part of my back seat area disassembled so I really have no direct experience in removing the package tray. That said, can you raise the tray at all? Can you look up underneath with a light? I was thinking, using a thin strip of steel, resembling a ruler (?), maybe be you could slide it up between the tray and the clip to release it. There may also be some adhesive or sealant in there- just a pure guess.

I have one off. I see four screws on each side above the seats, two screw holes n the middle over armrest and one screw straight down on each side on the top. If you need pics let me know Bob

Thanks Bob for the offer, but I have removed all the screws, yet somthing is keeping it in along the rear....Im gonna move on from it for now, cause I have a feeling the rear window seal had pinched it, or is stuck to it some how. I am not ready to pull the window out at all. 1965 Ford Thunderbird Hardtop
