my birds backup lites recently quit, when checking the problem out found that backup lites come on momentarily when starting. tried jumpering with a hot lead and car tried to start. disconnected wires to switch til i can solve problem. is my backup/neutral safety switch bad or just out of adjustment? or do i have bigger problems?

I have a similar problem. When I put gear shift in
reverse, the fuse in the light switch blows. Any
help out there?

after a little research, I pulled out the neutral/backup lite switch, and found the contacts had somehow turned and were cotacting each other creating a short between the two circuits. I repositoned them, remounted the switch and everything seems to work ok!
