Interior door panel is held on by: 3 Phillips screws, 1 behind interior door handle, 1 in forward quarter of arm rest (looking straight down between padding and hard plastic), and one on armrest opposite of exterior door handle. Now remove single Phillips screw for door locks/ window buttons cover plate and push piece forward (toward engine) to release it. I have found it easier to remove that cover plate from switchs when removing door panel. (4 3/8's nuts, wrench or socket, your choice.) The bolt that is probably holding you up is the one "hidden" under the back 1/4 of the cover plate mentioned above. I believe it is 9/16, it has been a while... Now, GENTLY, pry around sides and bottom of door skin to release the plastic "push pins" (as Ford calls them). There are 14 total. You'll know when they are all free. For this last part, it is usually easier to have two people. Push interior door lock down and start lifting on panel. Other person grabs door handle and opens it to full open position to start and then backs off some. Gently start sliding the panel up and off the door. There may be some other slight hang ups (wires, etc..), but take your time and look at it. You'll find them. Then remove sound proofing material, GENTLY... that stuff loves to rip. From this point, you should be better able to examine your window dilemma. Regulator and "run" should be well greased. If not, grease them with some bearing grease and try your window motor. It is amazing what a little grease will do sometimes. Let us know what you find and we'll go from there. Di P.S. - As previous post, good luck on finding a working clock, I have had 4 '79 Birds total and not one of them had/has a working clock. Ford screw up is all I can caulk it up to... Greetings, Do you have the standard cluster on your '79 T-bird or the sport cluster? electric vs. quartz? With either cluster, you can flip through Hemmings and pick out a clock-repair service. If you have the electric clock, you can usually get a quartz conversion through those services, for a marginally higher fee. It'll last longer than the electric points-based mechanism (which is why the electric clocks all crap out after so many years) but you may lose points if you decide to enter the car into a show. The electric clocks were made by two different companies (can't remember them right now) but one has a plastic case while the other has a metal case. I prefer the metal case. I have an NOS electric clock for the standard instrument cluster if you're interested (I bought the clock kit for the wiring, not for the actual clock). I also have a converted quartz clock for the standard instrument cluster. And to give you even more choice, I have two nonfunctional metal-cased clocks which you can send to your favorite clock repair service. I share your feelings about a nonfunctional clock---nothing pissed me off like having a fifth of my instrument cluster being taken up by a nonfunctional item! Anyway, gotta run now. Let me know if you're (or anyone else is) interested. Po 1978 Ford Thunderbird Town Landau 1978 Ford LTD II Brougham

i got a electric from another guy on here. it is a typical balance wheel movement. since i do house clocks as a hobby, the real reason the clocks quit is lack of clock oil. i reset the balance wheel and lubed the pivts on all the gears and it runs like a champ!!!!!
