Hey everybody, After asking a lot of people and getting no reponse, I guess I'll put my question out there. Does anybody know if you can buy sound insulation/deadener? This would be the stuff that looks like thick felt-like material with a heavy paper backing found in the trunk. Is this the same stuff Ford would have used to insulate the body from road noise?

Try Obsolete Ford in Oklahoma City, OK. They should have what your looking for. Mike B '69 Fordor '90 2 door

You could try Dynamat as well (Eastwood as well as a few other outfits sells Dynamat sheets of various sizes). The stuff ain't too cheap (at least from the perspective of my wallet... YMMV) but the theory is to add mass to the metal to absorb sound and vibration. I have a '78 Town Landau which, according to the sales brochure, has enhanced sound insulation standard. This was accomplished, among I'm sure other ways, through spraying the insides of the door sheet metal with asphalt and stuff the crevices along the sides of the trunk with big wads of foam. Once the weather warms up, I'll finish undercoating which should help to lower cabin noise levels. HTH, Po

Thanks for the info. I'm restoring a 79 with T-Top and I find the cabin a bit noisy. I'm not sure if it's the top or just the body needing better insulation. Anyways, thanks guys.
