Looking at a 66 numbers as follows:
6Y83Q153460
63A
LR
58
05D
73
1
4
It looks to be completely original in decent shape. Only rust on car is very little at rear fender wells (very little). No rust on floors at all. Doors are smooth and tight. Interior is good. Bumpers are strait with no rust. All chrome on the car is nice with no pitting. All grill and taillight assemblies look good. Motor runs poorly. Has motor tag and carb tag still in place. Has the swing away steering. This is a no title car and I'm thinking about buying it to part it out. The guy wants $2000 or best offer. He must move this week since moving out of house. Can get for about $1000 I would imagine. Came across this while looking for parts for my 66 Fairlane GT.
Any comments?

Prices sound about right if you have that many good parts in the car. A 'Q'engine (428ci) that is the correct for the year and car and rebuildable is worth quite a bit all by itself. Good luck. Vince

More numbers that I took off of the car are:

Engine Tag:
Line 1: 428 66 1
Line 2: 6C 410 S

Carb Tag:
Line 1: C6SF A
Line 2: C 6CD

Intake Part Number: C6AE

Im going to look at the car again tomorrow. Any advice on what else to look for or at is welcome!

Thanks

You probably already know this but the 'C6....' prefix on the part numbers tell you the part is an original '66 part. Again, a little more valueable to someone looking for that particular year.

Well Vince I made him an offer of $1000 and we settled at $1240. I'll be going to pick the car up tomorrow. I'll post a pic. Do you think I can use that Q code in my 66 GT Fairlane?

Thanks for your help.

Chris

Could be. My recall is fuzzy but didn't the Fairlane GT have a 390ci option in '66? If so I would think you could use much of that set up to put the 428 into your car. I believe you pick up about 30 horses. Maybe others here know more of the fine points about this engine swap.

Yes Vince you are correct. The 428 will drop right in, the only item that I cannot use are the exhaust manifolds. I'll have to use headers or drill the heads for the 390 manifolds.

Thanks

I almost forgot. The 390 was standard for the GT and GTA Fairlanes.

if your state rewuires a title on old cars,You can prolly get a title from www.broadwaytitle.com or the engine is worth some bucks if its buildable.

Also I think the heads are the same as the 390.

I really hate hearing about a tbird that is in as good shape as ccarney69 says and wants to part it out. Get a title on it and fix it up and resell it. I have tbirds a 66 and a 64. I am fixing both of them up on a poormans budget but to me it's worth it.

Kudos to "bwssr" for speaking out...I feel the same as "bwssr"...if it's in good shape...clean it,fix it, and keep it alive! If it's in good shape he could double what he paid for it with just a wash & wax.
