Just purchased a 1964 convertable through an auction. Paid over $13000 !
Body almost flawless, interior is aged but acceptable, but I've needed to rebuild the engine, suspension and brakes. By the time I get through restoring this beauty I'll probably have more put into it than I paid for it! Is this normal or am I being foolishly nieve?

I now only open my receipt file for my 65 to put another one in. I haven't added them up for a quite some time because if I did it may bum me out. But I have really enjoyed fixing my car up and have learned alot doing it. These are really special cars. I have friends that have boring collector cars like a camaro and chevelle. Hell my brother in law has 2 corvairs he had restored. He stuck over 20K in one! And its still a corvair...yuck.
I love driving my bird and the looks and comments it gets. Sounds like with the work you said it needed you will still be in the ball park of it's value with what you paid for it. Plus you will know what you have because you did it!
Have fun!

DO IT, fix it up. You will put more into it then you could get out of it but you have a RARE car that is not seen on the road and turns heads. I just picked up a 64 convert myself last year that needs a full resto!
